About the event:

The 8th Annual Earth Day Kids Fest (EDKF) will take place on April 17, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Located on the grounds of the picturesque Chattahoochee Nature Center, this is a unique and exciting hands-on environmental education event where we encourage youngsters to take the first steps in becoming environmental stewards. Through engaging activities and performances, kids are energized with empowering information, allowing them to lead the way in preserving and protecting our biological diversity and natural resources.

Afternoon Highlights:

  • Meet and take pictures with Captain Planet and watch his cartoons
  • Planting activity and example of Captain Planet's Learning Gardens
  • Live animal presentations by Chattahoochee Nature Center
  • Live entertainment by Billy Jonas and local elementary schools
  • Recycle relay with professional football player, Ovie Mughelli

  • Atlanta Beat presents athletic soccer demonstrations

  • Giant, inflatable slide by Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers
  • Eco-education stations by local groups and environmental organizations

  • Games for Competitors challenge guests to an eco-game of Tri-Cross
  • Earth-themed arts and crafts and face painting

  • Paddle a canoe on CNC's Beaver Pond

  • Green Market with Earth-friendly household goods

  • Free Smoothies by Freshens

  • Healthy snacks for the family

Admission:

$8 for adults
$6 for seniors
$5 for children
Children 2 and under are FREE

Free Entrance Opportunity: Eco-friendly participants who ride their bikes from home will get in FREE!

There will also be free shuttle bus service available from St. Francis school near the corner of Willeo/Azalea and
Highway 120.
